We are Mission Village Christian Fellowship, located in the neighborhood of Serra Mesa right up the hill from QUALCOMM Stadium off the 15. We are a non-denominational fellowship that has been in the neighborhood for 50 years.
We know looking for or thinking about going to a church can be scary. I mean, any time you do something new can be a little scary. With any new church you don't know the type of people: will they be friendly? or maybe not. What's the music like... old-fashioned, contemporary, both? If you have children you are probably wondering is this church kid-friendly? Will there be nursery care?
This is what we believe.
We are a small church, about 100 people. We come from all walks of life. Some of us are lawyers, stay-at-home mothers, working mothers, some of us are painters, others professors, and some of us are homeless. We are non-denominational. That means you'll find people who come from a Baptist background, our pastor comes from a Nazarene background, some of us come from Catholics families, and some of us are Pentecostal. What we have in common is our belief that Jesus Christ is our Savior. We believe He came with a specific intent to die for us individually. We are saved because He shed His blood on the cross. We are saved only by grace, and not because we are good people. We know everybody is on a different journey in life. We know that your journey isn't going to be the same as anyone else's. We know that Jesus will take us through our journey of life and all of its ups and downs.
If you decide to visit us, and we really hope you do, our Sunday church service lasts about an hour and half. It starts at 9:30 a.m. We have Sunday school at 8:30 for adults. We do have a nursery, so young mothers and fathers can relax. Children’s Sunday School happens in a break out session after our worship time for kids 4yr through middle/high school. It’s a small group, led by great people who love Jesus and love kids. The music we play for worship is contemporary, but sometimes we’ll throw in some old bluesy stuff (we think it's because our piano player likes to play the blues). Our pastor Carl Baker brings us the message (right from the Bible). We also have fellowship after church about a half hour for chatting, and a little coffee.
We love visitors. And lots of time, visitors love us. Maybe it’s because we’re not scary or hard to know. Now you know something about us. It’s your turn to come and tell us something about you. See you soon!
